LESLEY ANNE IVORY
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lesley Anne Ivory was born in Bedfordshire, England, and studied at the art schools of St Albans, Watford and Luton, gaining the National Diploma in Design. Lesley's predominately watercolour and gouache artwork is heavily influenced by her love of pattern from Indian and Persian tapestry and mosaics and friezes of the Ancient World. She is a frequent exhibitor, with exhibitions in New York, London and Salisbury.
Her wildlife wood engravings have been exhibited at the Royal Academy and she created a set of limited edition animal prints for The World Wildlife Fund.
Cats play an important part in Lesley Anne's life; she has illustrated more than 40 children's books including - Cats Know Best (1988), Meet My Cats (1989), Cats in the Sun (1991), Cats among the Toys (1993) and Star Cats (1998). The majority of her paintings are portraits of her own feline family. Now married to the artist Evan Ivory and living in Hertfordshire, she works as a freelance designer and illustrator.
Lesley Anne’s Ivory Cats continue to be enjoyed the world over and includes hundreds of items from the USA, Europe and the UK. Her artwork is featured on calendars, greeting cards, ceramics and now these charming watches from Anderson & Webb.
